1. Loring Park: Neighborhood Organizing Marker
Inscription. The Loring Park neighborhood is home to one of the city's oldest neighborhood organizations. In 1972, neighbors banded together in a successful fight to prevent the demolition of the historic 1906 Loring Park Shelter Building. Forming the group Citizens for a Loring Park Community (CLPC), they would go on to be an important voice in directing the redevelopment of the neighborhood. The organization has since been involved in many efforts to improve the quality of life in the community.

These historic plaques were compiled by the following Loring Park residents: Richard Anderson, Robert Copland, Ray Harris, Kim Havey and John Van Heel. The plaques were designed by Shea Inc. and installed by Alatus LLC and the City of Minneapolis, 2010.
