Regarding Myrna Elizabeth Mack Chang. This marker is located at the offices of AVANCSO (Asociación para el Avance de las Ciencias Sociales, or the Association for the Advancement of the Social Sciences, in English). Myrna Mack founded this organization in 1986 in order to understand the experience of displaced indigenous communities in Guatemala’s civil conflict. She was murdered by Guatemala state forces right outside of AVANCSO’s nearby, former offices.
