Inscription.
A Tory’s property, seized
during the Revolution, was
presented by New Jersey
to Baron von Steuben, Gen.
Washington’s drillmaster.

 
Erected 1964 by State of New Jersey.
 
Location. 40° 54.812′ N, 74° 1.888′ W. Marker is in River Edge, New Jersey, in Bergen County. Marker can be reached from Main Street, on the left when traveling east. Touch for map. The Steuben House marker was originally located in front of this house, which was confiscated during the American Revolution from Loyalist Jan Zabriskie.
