LSU which finished the season with a record of 55-18, dominated the CWS field, outscoring its opposition 48-15 in four games.
The '91 LSU squad became the first team since Miami (Fla.) in 1982 to win the national championship without a loss in the NCAA Tournament. The SEC champion Tigers were undefeated in the NCAA South Regional (4-0) and in the CWS (4-0).
