1. Lawrence Cemetery Marker
Inscription. In 1873, soon after the Texas and Pacific Railroad built a line through this area, a group of investors formed the Texas Colony Association with the goal of promoting a town. Named for one of the company directors, the town of Lawrence was established and soon boasted numerous homes and businesses. This community cemetery began that same year with the burial of seven-month-old Katie D. Hibbler. Now containing more than 400 graves, including those of many pioneers, the Lawrence Cemetery stands as a reminder of the area's early history.
 
Erected 1991 by Texas Historical Commission. (Marker Number 8531.)
 
Location. 32° 44.597′ N, 96° 20.15′ W. Marker is in Terrell, Texas, in Kaufman County. Marker can be reached from County Road 237A 0.4 miles east of Farm to Market Road 1392, on the left when traveling east. Touch for map. Cemetery is behind a locked gate. You must walk 783 feet from the gate to the marker. Marker is at or near this postal address: 5620 Country Road 237A, Terrell TX 75160, United States of America.
