Inscription. His inspiring career as an athlete, coach and athletic director at the University of Wisconsin from 1918 through 1955, will remain indelibly impressed upon all who came within his respective spheres of brilliant leadership. Born, February 18, 1898, at Madison, Wisconsin. Elected 1958.
 
Erected 1959 by Presented to the Hall of Fame by the Sportsman's Club of the Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company with the Company as Co-Sponsor.
