1. Charles Adams Bryan Marker
Inscription. Born in Maryland, Bryan and his family settled in the Stafford Courthouse area around 1869. He served as Deputy Clerk of Court from 1869-1871 and from 1877-1885. In 1887 he became Clerk of Court and served in that position until 1911. During his years here, he was noted for his kindness and irreproachable integrity. In 1910 Bryan planted six sugar maple trees on the courthouse lawn. The last of the six trees was removed in 2014 during the construction of the Courthouse Area Enhancement Project.

Location. 38° 25.355′ N, 77° 24.503′ W. Marker is in Stafford, Virginia, in Stafford County. Marker is on Jefferson Davis Highway (U.S. 1) 0.1 miles north of Courthouse Road (County Route 630), on the right when traveling south. Touch for map.
