Inscription. A great center-fielder for Pittsburgh, Boston and Chicago N.L. teams, 1899 through 1910. 1902 Batting Champion with .357. Led league with most hits in 1902-1903-1904-1907. First batter of modern World Series history. Born, July 23, 1876, at Rochester, Wisconsin.
 
Erected 1951 by Presented to the Hall of Fame by the Miller Brewing Co.
