Named for
Daniel D. Tompkins

Born 1774, Died 1825. Served New York State as Member of Constitutional Convention and Assemby 1801; Judge of Supreme Court 1804-7; Governor 1807-1817; Chancellor of University of State of New York; Defender of Frontier, Commander of Third District Militia 1814-15. Message on Abolition of Slavery in New York 1817. Vice President of United States 1817-25. Patriot of Brilliant Ability, Untiring Energy.
