1. Robert Halbert & Battie Halbert Marker

Inscription. Robert born June 11, 1891 in Ft. McKavett, Tex. and died Sept. 16, 1983. Battie born Dec. 14, 1894 in Florence, Tex. and died Nov. 26, 1991. They met while attending Howard Payne college and married July 12, 1912. Two daughters survive, Allie (Mrs. Vestel Askew) and Bobbie (Mrs. Lee Fawcett). Both continue their local ranching heritage. Robert was a noted sheepsman but was known world-wide as a premier breeder of polled Hereford cattle. He served as President of Texas and National Polled associations, and exhibited cattle nation-wide, producing many champions. Halbert Herefords sold to several foreign countries. His priorities were family, friends, community, the Sonora Methodist Church, and his livestock.
