1. Presque Isle County Bank Marker
Inscription. The center portion of this building, with its gabled roof, was built in 1899 for Charles Osgood, proprietor of the first bank in the county—the Presque Isle County Bank. The original building is shown in this 1907 photo. Charles Osgood is on the right and George Grambau, the bank's teller, is on the left. Osgood's bank had opened here on December 18, 1890, in a small log cabin at the corner of Third Street and Huron Avenue. The bank remained in this location until 1911, when it moved into a much larger copper-domed bank building at the corner of Third Street and Michigan Avenue.

The Presque Isle County Historical Museum provided sign text and images. A Vibrant Small Cities Initiative (VSCI) grant from MSHDA and the City of Rogers City funded this project. The City Council and Community Development Authority jointly obtained the VSCI grant. The Design Committee developed the concept. Sign design and engineering by Harry Wierenga of Fleis and VandenBrink Engineering. Valley City Sign manufactured the signs in 2010. The Department of Public Works installed the signs in 2011.

Erected 2011 by City of Rogers City & Vibrant Small Cities Initiative (VSCI) grant from MSHDA. (Marker Number 6.)
