1. St. James' Church Marker

Inscription. This parish, organized in 1836, occupies one of the oldest Roman Catholic houses of worship in Manhattan. Designed in the Greek Revival style, probably by Minard Lafever, the church was dedicated in 1837. Alfred E. Smith served here as an altar boy.
