1. Operation Dumbo and the USS Yorktown. Lt Howard M. "Howdy" Harrison was a Grumman F6F Hellcat pilot in VF88 Squadron aboard the USS Yorktown. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with two gold stars, and Purple Heart, and was killed in the last major air battle of World War II.
