Inscription.
Tallman-Budke House. . This dwelling, constructed in multiple phases from ca. 1791 to ca. 1880, represents the distinctive tradition of sandstone vernacular domestic architecture of Dutch-settled Rockland County, NY and adjacent Bergen County, NJ. The first owners were Harmanus Tallman and Maria Onderdonk Tallman, whose household included two enslaved people of African descent. Over the course of the dwelling’s history, occupants included tenant farmers and members of the Budke family, but since the 1940s the house has been uninhabited.
The house was placed on the State and National Registers of Historic Places in 2017.
