Behind A Renaissance Revival Façade
— 161 Bowery —
In 2014 the building was purchased for $12.75 million to make it the neighborhood’s first office space for modern technology tenants. Now look at the South-facing side wall. The 30 by 40 foot mural was sponsored by the nonprofit Little Italy Street Artist (LISA Project NYC) and created by street artist Shepard Fairley, who created the “Hope” image of President Barack Obama in 2008.
