1. Crowell and Spencer Engine #400 Marker
Inscription.
Built by Baldwin Locomotive Works, Philadelphia, PA, Construction #51175, January, 1919 Baldwin Class 10-32-D #1167, type 4-6-0.
Delivered at Long Leaf, February, 1919, placed in service, August, 1919. Last used February, 1953.

Engine #400 was the first of four nearly identical locomotives delivered to Crowell and Spencer Lumber, or the Red River and Gulf RR between the years of 1919 and 1923. The others were Crowell and Spencer #300, and RR&G #105 and #106. Ideally suited to operations over the RR&G RR, #400 and 300 hauled the daily log trains from Hutton to Long Leaf, while the RR&G #105 and #106 hauled the regular freight trains in the years between 1919 and 1944. After 1944, engine 400 was used to haul the log trains from east of Meridian to the Long Leaf mill. In poorer condition than the RR&G #106, the engine was last used in February, 1953, at the end of the month it was retired and stored on this spot. In 1954. parts from engine #300 were used to rebuild it, but it was never used again in service.
