Standing before you are several of the 150 maples given to the United States by Canada in celebration of our northern neighbor's 150th anniversary (1867-2017).

The maple leaf is recognized worldwide as a symbol of Canadian strength, endurance, and values. From the maple's early discovery by Canada's Indigenous Peoples, this symbol can be found on Canada's national flag, currency, and military uniforms.

The United States and Canada have a unique relationship among the community of nations. The two countries share the world's longest and most secure border and have a long history of peace. In addition to geographic proximity, close connections are shared by families, friends, and communities in the two countries. The United States and Canada also have the most successful trade and investment relationship in the world and share the values of freedom and democracy.
