Inscription.

The Scranton Preparatory School, founded in 1944 by the Society of Jesus two years after the Jesuits assumed control of the University of Scranton, operated for its first seventeen years in a building on the south-west corner of Wyoming Avenue and Mulberry Street originally constructed as a private hospital. The former Thomson Hospital building was acquired by the university in 1941 and underwent substantial renovations following a major fire just before the Prep arrived. When the widening of Mulberry Street required the building's demolition in 1961, the Prep was housed for two years in the university's Old Main building on this site before moving to the school's present location at 1000 Wyoming Avenue in the fall of 1963.
