1. County Jail Marker
Inscription. The county jail in 1865 stood just beyond this marker. Shortly after the war it burned. The jail across the road replaced it in 1870.

The jail wall included a substantial amount of iron bars in the wall, between the bricks and plaster. This prevented prisoners from chiseling an escape hole.
