Inscription.
Chauncey Parry was one of the great early boosters for Southern Utah tourism. With his transportation company, he was often called upon to escort visiting Heads of State to Zion, Bryce, and the Grand Canyon. He was even knighted by the King of Sweden for his service. "Chance" Parry was the guiding force in the building of Parry Lodge. He oversaw it's [sic] design and building prior to the opening in June of 1931. It was his idea to try and attract more Hollywood film makers to the area. As a pilot in World War I, he loved to fly. With his own bi-plane after the war, he flew all over Southern Utah taking pictures of the scenery. With a large colection of photos he went to Hollywood, meeting with producers, directors and location scouts. He succeeded beyond his wildest dreams. His life was tragically cut short by injuries from an accident in 1943 when he was hit by a car while driving his daughters to school in Cedar City.
