Inscription. Here in a grove, Oct. 8, 1840, Andrew Jackson spoke before about 10,000 enthusiastic listeners. Accompanied by James K. Polk and Felix Grundy, he was honor guest at a barbecue. Veterans of the War of 1812, welcomed him upon his second visit.
