Inscription. There were several pool halls, but no gambling houses in Japantown. However a Japanese-operated print shop on Jackson Street which made cannery labels, printed lottery tickets for the Chinese. A gambling “runner” would come from Chinatown regularly to Japantown to sell lottery tickets to each house or store. Occasionally, adults allowed children to participate.
