Schoolcraft House is a historic home located in the Town of Guilderland in Albany County, New York. It was built about 1835 and is a distinctive Gothic Revival style dwelling. It features gingerbread vergeboards, pinnacles with crockets, lancet windows, and horizontal beaded siding. It was built by John L. Schoolcraft (1804-1860), U.S. Congressman and uncle of noted American geographer, geologist, Henry Rowe Schoolcraft. The home was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. The Guilderland Town website states the "interior restoration of the Schoolcraft House has begun. Floors are being replaced or restored. Doors and woodwork are being refinished to their original splendor, walls and fireplaces renewed and an "old" kitchen is planned. We look forward to the Schoolcraft Cultural Center's new look!"
