More about this marker. The monument is an 8 ft. cairn (pile of rocks) with a simple plaque embedded into it. It is clearly visible from the nearby roads. George Locke was a patriot, opposing British rule in America. British officer Banastre Tarleton hacked the 16 year old Locke to death. Locke left a wife and small daughter behind.
