1. Hudson School Marker
Inscription. On this site stood the Martha Institute from 1866-1999. Built on land donated by Hoboken philanthropist Martha Bayard Stevens and named in her honor, the Martha Institute served as home to Hoboken's first German-American school, the Manual Trade School, Hoboken's first public high school, the Stevens Academy, andthe Normal School, a teacher training institute.

Inspired by the architecture of the Martha Institute, the present building was designed by Ehrenrantz, Eckstut and Kuhn and built by the Del-Sano Contracting Corp., 2002.

The Hudson School, founded in 1978, entered its new home on December 2, 2002.
