1. Southern Hotel and Stage Station Marker
Inscription.
This tablet marks the location of the famous Southern Hotel and Stage Station. The original building was a log cabin built in 1859. During a half century many noted people who made early California history were entertained in this hotel.
Dedicated to the memory of Simon Fisher Southern and his wife Sarah Lafferty Southern, pioneers of the Gold Trail 1849-1855.
 
Erected 1961 by the daughters - May H. and Fannie E. Southern. (Marker Number 33.)
