1. First Presbyterian Church Marker
Inscription. Presbyterians first worshipped in Marianna, Florida in 1835. The First Presbyterian Church in Marianna was established by nine women and one man, Bryan Erwin, the first ruling elder. It is recorded that Mr. Erwin came to Jackson County from Scotland Neque, North Carolina.

The first structure was a wood framed sanctuary built in 1840 one block north of this location on the SE corner of Jefferson and Broad Streets. The second structure was built on this site in 1898 and was dismantled to make way for the grey brick sanctuary built in 1923. In 1950 the educational building was added.

This marker, dedicated to the glory of God in May 1986, was a gift through the women of The Church of Marianna. The marker stands in recognition of 150 years of faithful service and rich heritage, a monument to the communion of the saints who have served their Lord through this church.
