1. Site of Soule University for Boys Marker
Inscription. Established in 1855 and chartered in 1856 to replace Rutersville and Wesleyan Colleges. Closed during the Civil War and later by yellow fever. Succeeded in 1875 by Southwestern University
 
Erected 1936 by State of Texas. (Marker Number 8419.)
