1. Historic Swimming Pool and Terrace Marker

Inscription. The swimming pool (1923 - 1925) was one of the first landscape features added by Gifford and Cornelia Pinchot when they moved into Grey Towers. It was designed by family friend and designed Chester Aldrich of Delano & Aldrich, who incorporated many of Cornelia's suggestions/

The Pinchot's used the pool and surrounding terrace to relax and entertain their many guests.

Originally the pool was relatively isolate and separated from the mansion with a service road and utilitarian buildings. Cornelia's addition of the Fingerbowl and Marble Court helped incorporate it into the estate grounds.

Erected by Grey Towers National Historic Site.
