Inscription. In memory of Erastus Mitchell Birch born – Jan. 19, 1801 – died- July 7, 1884 native of Dutchess County New York ** friend and neighbor of Horace Mann * trustee * treasurer and member of the executive committee board of trustees Antioch College * ardent supporter of Horace Mann and generous contributor to Antioch College during its early years.

Erected 1942 by Hugh Taylor Birch.
