-Grew up in Birmingham, Alabama
-Studied Engineering at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa
-Married the former Dorothy Wright of Belmont, Mississippi
-Served in the Army in North Africa and European Theater during WWII and was discharged as a Lieutenant Colonel in March 1946
-Opened Thrasher Oil Company in Huntsville under a Shell Oil company franchise in 1946
-Served as Executive Officer at Redstone Arsenal from May 1951 until October 1952
-Appointed by President Kennedy to the National USO Board from 1961-1964
-Awarded the Distinguished Citizen Service Medal, the highest honor that the U.S. Army can give to a civilian, in 1995
-Appointed to the U.S. Army Civilian Advisory Committee, Third Army Area Headquarters, in 1958
-Served on the Board of Directors and as Vice President of the Alabama Chamber of Commerce
-Appointed to the City of Huntsville School Board from 1952-1961 and was President for two years
-Served on the Board of Directors and as President of the Huntsville Industrial Expansion Committee
-Served on the Board of Directors and as Chairman of the Industrial Development Board
-Served as Co-Chairman of the Huntsville
-U.S. Army Community Relations Committee from 1960-1996 -Served
