Inscription. "First manager to lead the Milwaukee Brewers to the World Series Championships in 1982. Spent 15 years in the major leagues with a lifetime batting average of .303. Named to the American League All Star Team six times. 1953 American League Rookie of the Year with a .308 batting average. Born December 4, 1930 Milwaukee, Wisconsin Elected 1988
