Regarding Bucky Doo Square. The origin of the name ‘Bucky Doo’ is uncertain. One theory is it came from a pub named the ‘Buck and Doe’ that was located here in the 17th century. It may hve derived from ‘Bocardo' which was a type of prison that may have existed here in the 13th century. Or it may have come from ‘Boccard’ or ‘Boggard’, a medieval word for toilet!
