1. Marsh Mallows Marker

Inscription. Marsh mallows are native to Egypt and were introduced in Europe by the 1500s and then in North America where they quickly spread along the many waterways. They are tolerant of high water and well suited for wetlands, river banks and rain gardens. In past centuries, an extract of the root was combined with honey or other sweeteners to make a sweet, chewy treat. Today, gelatin is substituted for the root extract in the making of marshmallows.
