Coming to an End…
Francisco returned to Prince Edward County, VA and enlisted in the horse company of Captain Thomas Watkins attached to Colonel William Washington's cavalry. Engaged at the battle of the Guilford Court House, he was again wounded "from the knee to the socket of the hip". He reportedly slew eleven enemy soldiers with his large broadsword at Guilford where a monument is erected in his memory. Captain John Woodson of Cumberland County left in the field with Francisco and recollected "he was very Bloody and also was his Sword from point to hilt." He was later ordered to Yorktown where, at the age of 21, he watched the British surrender.
After the War..
In later years, Francisco was the Sergeant at Arms for the Virginia General Assembly. He died of appendicitis on January 16, 1831 at age 70 and was buried with full military honors at Shockhoe Cemetery in Richmond.
