In Memoriam. Pioneer Casey McKay, great grandfather of George C. McKay, settled here with his family in 1834. He and his son Chauncey, grandfather of the donor, erected the original portions of the community church and grist mill, also many other buildings still standing. Casey McKay was chosen first moderator of Ross Township School District No.4 which was organized May 23, 1839.
