Hendrik Jan Hiensch
Amsterdam, 10 januari 1912 - Bergen-Belsen, datum onbekend

a resistance fighter who had been involved in the arson of the Labor Bureau. At the beginning of 1943, his brother-in-law Gerben Wagenaar, a leader of a communist resistance organization and member of the Resistance Council, asked Hiensch to take him to an appointment with resistance fighter Piet Wapperom at the former Staatsspoor train station in The Hague. Wapperom was, however, under the control of the Sicherheitsdienst (SD, the security service) and was set out as bait in order to be able to arrest Wagenaar. Hiensch, because he thought he was less interesting for the SD, took Wagenaar's place and approached Wapperom. Having the banned magazine De Waarheid (literally, "The Truth") in his pocket, he was arrested by the SD. After staying in several detention camps, he died in the spring of 1945 in Bergen-Belsen on an unknown date. Hence May 31, 1945 is recorded in the archives as his date of death.
