Louis Jansen
Amsterdam, 28 maart 1900 - Waalsdorpervlakte, 9 oktober 1943

to death by the courts. Jansen was an office clerk and representative of his profession, and a co-leader of Communist Party of the Netherlands (CPN). He was one of the compilers of the manifesto with the famous call of 'Stop! Stop! Stop!' that led to the well-known February 25th strike. He also played a major role in De Waarheid ("The Truth"), one of the main illegal magazines, and carried out sabotage and espionage. As an enemy of the German occupiershe went underground into hiding with his family. He was, however, betrayed and captured. A pardon request from his wife was turned down by Reichskommissar Seyss-Inquart. He was executed together with the other CPN co-leader, Jan Dieters. A year after the war he was posthumously awarded the Resistance Cross 1940-1945 for his bravery in the resistance.
