Amsterdam, 15 augustus 1905 - Amsterdam, 15 juli 1944

Guus Trestorff was leraar aan de Electrotechnische school. Hij maakte deel uit van de knokploeg, hielp Joodse onderduikers en vervalste onder meer persoonsbewijzen. In mei 1944 richtte hij samen met een aantal andere sociaal-democraten het blad Vrije Gedachten op.

Om gevangen verzetskameraden te bevrijden, werd - na de eerste mislukte overval - een tweede overval op het Huis van Bewaring aan de Weteringschans gepland. Gevangenisbewaker Jan Boogaard, die aan de kant van Trestorff en zijn groep leek te staan, bleek een verrader. Trestorff raakte tijdens een vuurgevecht op de binnenplaats van de gevangenis zwaargewond en overleed later in het Wilhelmina Gasthuis aan zijn verwondingen.

Guus Trestorff was a teacher at the Electrotechnical School. He was part of a militia group, helped Jewish people in hiding and forged identity cards, among other things. In May 1944, together with a number of other social democrats, he founded the magazine Vrije

("Free Thought").

In order to free imprisoned resistance comrades, a second raid on the House of Detention at the Weteringschans was planned. Prison guard Jan Boogaard, who seemed to be on the side of Trestorff and his group, turned out to be a traitor. Trestorff was hit during a firefight in the courtyard of the prison, was seriously injured and later died in the Wilhelmina Gasthuis to due his injuries.
