Sape Kuiper
Sape Kuiper Arnhem, 3 februari 1924 - Overveen, 1 oktober 1943
Sape Kuiper, who in Delft studied civil engineering, went into hiding in May 1943 presumably because he did not want to sign the declaration of loyalty put forth by the occupiers that students were obliged to sign if they wanted to continue studying. He joined the resistance group CS-6, of which his brother Bram was also a member. Kuiper helped Jewish compatriots and made fire bombs, including those that were used in the arson of the Rembrandt Theater, where German propaganda films were being shown. He was arrested for the liquidation of a dentist who had passed on the addresses of Jewish patients to the Security Police. Together with eighteen others he was sent to the Standing Police Court, a fast and strict way of administering justice in wartime, and sentenced to death. He was executed at the dunes at Overveen, and he was buried in a makeshift mass grave. Later Sape and his brother Bram were reburied at the Bloemendaal Memorial Cemetery.
