Jacob van Heemskerck 1567 - 1607
Zeevaarder en vice-admiraal bij de Admiraliteit van Amsterdam. Hij nam tweemaal deel aan expedities van Willem Barentsz naar het poolgebied, die bedoeld waren om een noordelijke vaarroute naar Azië te ontdekken.
Navigator and Vice Admiral at the Admiralty of Amsterdam. He twice took part in Willem Barentsz' expeditions to the Arctic, which were intended to discover a northern shipping route to Asia.
