Excerpt (in translation): In a former shop, the city's first cinematograph room was opened here by Norsk Cinematografaktieselskab under the leadership of director Hugo Hermansen. The cinema hall was long and narrow, with 100 seats and 20 standing places and a piano at the very front. On the piano, a lady played tirelessly through all the performances, which lasted 20-30 minutes. The films' content did not always correspond to the tempting titles: "A Fallen Girl's Life Story" or "From the dirt of the street to the bright hall of the Count's Castle".(Submitted on August 7, 2023.)
The building with the Cinematograph theater was demolished to make way for the current building, which was built in 1934.
