Excerpt (in translation): Hamsun was one of Norway's foremost novelists and an important figure in both the neo-romanticism of the 1890s and the realistic novel literature of the interwar period. Because of his friendly outlook and his public support of the German occupation of Norway, Hamsun was also a controversial figure, both contemporaraneously and afterwards.

literary breakthrough came with the novel Sult (1890). The novel stood in opposition to the social realism of the 1880s and is considered a precursor to 20th-century modernism. In 1920, Hamsun was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature for the novel Markens Grψde (1917)...

The marker is not visible from the street. Viewing it will require approaching the house from the driveway, which presumably is okay since there is a county welfare agency office entrance located on that side of the house. But the rest of the building appears to be residential (and fenced off), so any closer access is not recommended.
