Overview (in translation): Xosé Luís Franco Grande, born in Tebra (Tomiño) on February 17, 1936 and died in Vigo on March 31, 2020, was a Galician writer, lexicographer, poet and lawyer. He was a member of the Council of Editorial Galaxia and a member of the Royal Galician Academy since 1998. Among his works stand out titles such as Vieiro choído , Entre o si e o non or Diccionario Galician-Castilian .(Submitted on October 16, 2023.)
Lexicography: In 1968 he published his work of vital importance for the Galician language, the Galician-Castilian Dictionary, published by Editorial Galaxia on October 25, 1968 - a work that was to be essential a couple of years later when the study of the Galician language was incorporated into the educational system. That dictionary was a vitally important instrument, assisting several generations of Galiciansin learning the Galician language. This work was reprinted many times until a total of approximately half a million copies were sold. Dictionaries often speak of "Franco Grande" as a denomination that marked an era.
