Excerpt (in translation): The Porta do Reloxo or Porta do Sol was an old entrance gate to the town of Padrón that lasted until the 18th century. In the drawing made by Pier Maria Baldi, who passed through Padrón accompanying Cosimo de Médici in 1669, you can glimpse the works of the old town wall, the Escola de Cristos (to the left of the previous parish church), together with the disappeared Torre Moucha, and previous bridge over the Sar, with the booth to collect taxes that was in the middle.(Submitted on December 4, 2023.)
Its name comes from 1575, when a clock was placed in this space. The pig market was held here, when it was moved from Campo do Souto, due to issues of health and neighborhood complaints.
