An Army Scout in 4-man teams while in the Pacific Theater of operations Gordon first trained in Hawall before moving out for the fight in the South Pacific islands. At the cease fire, his Scout team was on one side of a hill while 2 companies of Japanese occupied the other side preparing to attack allied positions. At the end of the war Gordon was assigned to duties with the occupation forces in Japan where the above picture was taken.
