O baluarte e batería do Carballo, xunto á porta homonima, forma parte dos restos das fortificacións da cidade construidos no século XVII no marco da guerra de Restauración da monarquía portuguesa. A batería e o sistema fortificado sur da cidade tiñan como obxectivo a protección contra posibles ataques dende a veciña fortaleza de Valença.
El baluarte y batería do Carballo, junto a la puerta homónima, forma parte de los restos de las fortificaciones de la ciudad, construidos en el siglo XVII en el marco de la guerra de Restauración de la monarquía portuguesa. La batería y el sistema fortificado sur de la ciudad buscaba la protección de posibles ataques desde la vecina fortaleza de Valença.
The Carballo bastion and battery, next to the gate of the same name, form part of the remaining city fortifications. They were built in the seventeenth century during the war of Restoration of the portuguese monarchy. Built on the south side of Tui, the battery and the system of fortifications south of the city, were intended to protect against possible attacks from the neighbouring fortress of Valença.
