More about this marker. This marker is one of at least 14 identical 9/11 memorial markers dedicated around the country by Alderwoods Group, a funeral services company; an identical marker can be found on the main fire station for the Chicago suburb of Elmwood Park, about 2 miles southwest of this station. While an article about the unveiling of this marker could not be found, it had to have been dedicated between 2002 and 2006, which were the only years the company existed. Alderwoods was formed in 2002 after the funeral services company Loewen Group emerged from bankruptcy; it was acquired by Service Corporation International in 2006.
