Regarding Benjamin N. Velasco Military Institute. The school began as the Methodist Institute (Instituto Metodista) in 1890 under the leadership of Benjamin N. Velasco. Over the years and many changes, it finally turned into a military academy in 1940. The school finally closed its doors in 1971.
