Inscription.
Platted in 1902. Became the business and social center in
Wood River Valley following closing of the military fort in 1890

 
Erected by Klamath County Historical Society-Klamath County Historical Landmark Commission.

2. The Town of Fort Klamath Marker
in the lumber industries. Half the buildings in this town are vacant and deteriorating and this social center is one of the few remaining buildings that are still maintained. There is only one small convenience store and a motel that invite travelers to stopover for the night. Otherwise, this quiet little town is just a passing memory on the way to Crater Lake National Park.
